In order for a hospital stay and subsequent recovery to go as smoothly as possible, it is important for a patient to be well informed and prepared beforehand. Therefore, patients who have to undergo knee or hip surgery (and/or their support person) are invited to the Knee and Hip forum after scheduling the surgery. This information session takes place every two weeks at St Vincent General Hospital in Deinze. The attending physicians and their team share with the patient all the information necessary before and after surgery. During this information session, patients can also pose questions to staff of the Social Services as well as the occupational therapist and physical therapist.

In addition, the nurses collect all the necessary (medical) information for the operation to be as successful and comfortable as possible. This will allow care providers to provide referrals to support services (e.g. home care, rehabilitation centres, etc.).

Register for the forum via the Orthopaedics Secretariat at the time of scheduling the operation. Not yet registered or have a question? If so, do not hesitate to contact the Orthopaedics Secretariat.
