Privacy and the protection of patients' personal data

The hospital is firmly committed to upholding the safety and privacy of patients, caregivers, employees, visitors, family members...

The entry into force of the new European privacy legislation supports this attitude and ensures that privacy remains of great importance.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in force since 25 May 2018, replaces and strengthens previous privacy legislation. The aim is to improve the management and protection of the personal data of each citizen. Maria Middelares carries out a set of processing operations on the personal data provided, with the sole objective of practising medicine and providing supporting services and compiling general statistics.

Privacy regulations have been drawn up in accordance with the legislation on the protection of personal data. These regulations describe how we use the data and what rights you have as a patient with regard to the protection of personal data.

If you wish to exercise your rights or have any questions about your privacy, please contact the Data Protection Officer (DPO).
