Tests and treatments
What is it?
Proctology is a gastrointestinal subspecialty for the diagnosis and treatment of anal and rectal disorders. These patients often present with symptoms of haemorrhoids.
Anal symptoms can vary in nature and range from bleeding, pain, bump formation, sagging, itching and incontinence to others. These symptoms may have various causes such as haemorrhoids, colon polyps, colon cancer, Crohn's disease, other inflammation in the colon (colitis), anal fissures, fistulas or skin conditions.
Testing and diagnosis
The best way to guarantee effective treatment is to provide an accurate diagnosis. A minimum of tests is recommended in order to issue a prescription.
