Hysteroscopy
What is it?
To perform a hysteroscopy, a scope (hysteroscope) is introduced into the uterus through the vagina and the cervix.
When?
A hysteroscopy can be diagnostic (e.g. infertility examination) or surgical.
The main reasons to perform a surgical hysteroscopy include:
- removal of polyps or fibroids (myomas)
- treatment of the uterine mucous membrane
- removal of adhesions in the uterus
- removal of a septum or coil from the uterus
