Ergonomic tips - standing
When performing our daily activities, we have to keep a number of principles in mind to ensure that we place less strain on our back.
Two basic positions
For standing activities, we begin from two basic positions
Movement below or above picking height
For movements below or above picking height, use a step or bend your hips and knees more
Additional points of support
You can also use additional points of support:
Use compensatory movements (e.g. putting your foot on a stool):
- Change position frequently
- Tighten your abdominal and buttock muscles
- Good posture is also partly determined by environmental factors (height of the work surface, office design, storage, workspace, etcetera.)
- Ironing board height: keep your elbows at an 90° angle, then position the ironing board ten centimetres lower than your wrists.
