What is it?

In order to facilitate orthodontic movement, we sometimes place temporary bone plates in the jaw bone. Bone plates are small metal plates placed in the upper and lower jaw.

A small tip of the plate will be visible in the mouth. Orthodontic bands can be affixed on to this tip. The goal is to acquire traction on the teeth to move them or to influence the growth of the jaw.

Additional follow-up

After the treatment, the bone plates will be removed.
