Maria Middelares General Hospital becomes a more sustainable care institution
Value-based health care, or value-driving care, is a way to make health care more sustainable. The patient is the priority. The goal is to improve patient outcomes while managing health care costs. For our hospital, integration of this model is a further step in a process that has been in development for years and that reflects our culture of appreciation for innovation and quality.
In 2020, a (large), two-member project on value-based health care was started with the staffing cooperation with St Vincent General Hospital in Deinze. On one hand, an extensive internal training trajectory was created, which will allow our hospital will build a community of sixty yellow belts (basic training) and sixty green belts (advanced training). On the other hand, there are three pilot projects up and running for patients with prostate cancer, chronic back pain and heart valve conditions.
