Internal testing of genital organs

In order to test the internal genital organs, one or two fingers are inserted into the vagina while feeling the outside of the abdomen with the other hand (vaginal exam). The gynaecologist can assess the position and size of the uterus and ovaries, as well as examine any painful spot if there are symptoms.
