Tests and treatments
What is it?
For a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) or fluid accumulation around the lungs resulting in oxygen deficiency, we place a thin tube between the ribs (chest drain) to solve these conditions. The drain enables us to completely clear the lungs.
The primary risk is serious bleeding if the artery is accidentally pricked in the space between the ribs.
