The word 'hernia' comes from Latin and refers to a bulge of organ or tissue that comes from the body cavity where it is normally positioned. In Flanders, the term is often used to refer to a hernia at the invertebral disc of the back, but internationally, it is more often used for a break in the abdominal wall. At the Maria Middelares Hernia Centre of Ghent we treat hernias of the abdominal wall
- Our highest priority is to improve quality of care and patient satisfaction using the most modern treatments.
