Symptoms and causes

A fractured ankle may cause problems long after it has been treated, and even when the bone has healed well and in the correct position.

Diagnosis and treatment

To obtain a correct diagnosis, radiography with the individual in a standing position is useful. And sometimes ultrasound imaging is required. Most cases require thorough clinical examination and further technical tests (MRI scan, SPECT scan and sometimes CT scan).
