Animation video: Why are you waiting in our emergency department?
In collaboration with Cast Animation and 15 other hospitals (see below), over the past few months we worked on an animated video about the triage process in the emergency department. The aim is to clarify how the emergency services work, so that patients have a better understanding of possible waiting times.
The reality is, that those who come to our A&E sometimes have to wait a while before it is their turn. This is because we want to help as many people as possible in the best possible way. Patients with the most urgent complaints are therefore prioritised. This is termed triage. Depending on the nature and severity of your illness or injury, a nurse will assign an urgency code to you. This allows us to deploy the appropriate tools and physicians where they are most needed.
