Prolapse surgery

What is it?

What is it?

This procedure is performed in case of prolapse of the uterus and/or of the front/backwall of the vagina. In a classic procedure, the uterus is removed and the front/back wall of the vagina is reinforced with sutures. New techniques use a mesh to provide this reinforcement. The uterus can often remain in place with newer techniques.

Your gynaecologist will discuss with you what the advantages and disadvantages are and which method is the most suitable for you.
