Practical information

Most examinations do not require you to be sober. However, the following examinations require you to be sober: heart examination (MIBI), stomach examination, bile duct examination, and FDG PET/CT scan. You will be informed of this when you make an appointment.

Heart tests may require you to take (or not take) certain medication, even if you have to come sober. The cardiologist will inform you of this. Thyroid tests and some rare tests may require you to stop taking medication a week or more before the test. We will let you know when you make an appointment.

For certain examinations, e.g. skeletal scintigraphy (also often called 'bone scan'), a familiarisation period of several hours between the administration of the tracer and the scan is necessary. Certain tests run over several days. You usually do not have to stay on duty during this waiting period and can go home in the meantime. You will be informed of the time of the scintigraphy either at the time of the appointment or immediately after administration of the tracer.
