Skin cure
What is it?
What is it?Atopic eczema is a common chronic condition in children that significantly impacts the daily activities of the child and the parents.
The condition is typified by periods of worsening symptoms (exacerbations), sometimes resulting in lack of sleep, school absences or hospitalisation. Good, preventative skincare can substantially reduce the frequency and severity of these exacerbations and improve the quality of life of these young patients.
Information and care sessions
Information and care sessionsIn 2014, the skincare sessions were awarded the MSD ‘health literacy award’ for its contribution to health awareness in patients.
Who is it for?
Babies and children with atopic eczema, very dry skin and/or itchiness, and their parents.
What is it?
To improve understanding of the skin disorder, dermatologists and paediatricians jointly provide information and care sessions about this.
How does it work?
Together with their parents, children will receive further explanation about their condition. You learn how to deliver the right care for your child and how you can encourage them. The sessions are held in a pleasant environment and delivered in a playful manner by a paediatrician, dermatologist, nurse and a psychologist.
How do I register?
The sessions are only useful after proper screening is performed and a correct diagnosis has been made. Prior consultation with one of the dermatologists or paediatricians is required. The GP or specialist may register you too.
Price
PriceParticipation costs €25. This is largely reimbursed by your health insurance fund.
