What is it?For acute heart failure, it may be necessary to place an intra-aortal balloon pump in the aorta (major body artery) via the groin. This is done in the event of life-threatening and urgent problems.

- bleeding
- cutting off the blood supply to the lower extremities or to the abdominal organs
- causing damage to the large body artery
Any symptoms that may arise from such a development are actively sought out and, if possible, they will be treated or the treatment will be modified.
