On our website, you can find an overview of the most common conditions for each joint. This will help you estimate what the nature of your problem may be. Naturally, every patient is unique and some conditions are more complex in nature.

The physician will chart the medical steps that need to be taken to treat your problem during a consult.

Consultation

Consultation

An appointment is always required for a consult with our physicians:

Our physicians conduct consults at various locations. Before your visit to the Orthopaedics Department, please check in electronically or at the reception desk:

  • Maria Middelares General Hospital (use your identity card to check in at the e-kiosk)
  • Maria Middelares Medical Centre in Ghent-Bruges (use your
identity card to check in at the e-kiosk)
  • St Denijslaan Outpatients Clinic in Ghent
  • Outpatients Clinic in Aalter

Imaging

In order to arrive at a correct diagnosis, imaging is often required. Imaging typically cannot be done on the same day as the consult. Our staff will, if you wish, book an appointment with our Radiology Department and will also book the next consult with the physician.

What to bring

  • identity card
  • GP referral letter (if applicable)
  • previous imaging results and/or reports (if applicable)
  • your most often used shoes and inlays

Payment

You will receive an invoice from the hospital for any consults., hospital stays, imaging and procedures. This will usually take one to two months after your appointment. Read more about these invoices here.

The certificate recording the provided services, which entitles you to reimbursement by your health insurance, is sent together with the invoice.

Hospitalisation

Hospitalisation

If, after the consult(s), hospitalisation appears necessary, the secretariat staff will arrange a suitable date with you. Surgical interventions always take place at Maria Middelares General Hospital. Read more here about preparing for hospitalisation and a hospital stay.
