Symptoms and causes

What is it?

Acne causes a blockage or inflammation of the sebaceous gland. Hormones play a role, but a hereditary predisposition is also important. With acne, we see white or black heads, red bumps and pimples, but also cysts and scars.

How often does it happen?

More than half of the population has pimples in puberty, but acne can also be persistent in adulthood.

Diagnosis and treatment

Diagnosis and treatment

Acne can be very disturbing and require treatment. The dermatologists, along with a team of nurses, are ready to fully tackle this problem of adolescence. During the consultation, a skin care worker is there to help patients remove blackheads correctly. This benefits the course of the disorder.

Light forms of acne can be treated with a cleaning regimen and ointments. A course of antibiotics is prescribed for more extensive forms. If the acne does not heal or if it creates scars, the dermatologist may prescribe a more definitive treatment with pills.
