Maria Middelares General Hospital and St Vincent General Hospital in Deinze are opening a new medical centre in Aalter.

Beginning on 6 September, patients from Aalter and the surrounding region will be able to come to a brand-new medical centre that Maria Middelares General Hospital and St Vincent General Hospital in Deinze are opening together. This achievement was the result of the close collaboration between the hospitals, which together form a personal union.

Patients can visit the medical centre for a variety of professional care services. The following services and specialisms will be offering services here: blood and sample collection, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, gynaecology, surgery, vascular surgery, ENT, orthopaedics, paediatrics, radiology and urology.

‘It is our intention to bring patient care closer to home, in close cooperation with the GPs and other regional care partners.’

Dr Judith Vermeiren, chair of the Outpatients Clinic workgroup of Maria Middelares General Hospital

A warm welcome

The medical centre is located in the new White Corner building, Brouwerijstraat 36 in Aalter. The centre is easily accessible by bicycle, public transport or car.

Considerable attention was paid to daylight and sustainability when designing the centre. For instance, a heat pump is used for cooling and heating the spaces. For its interior design, a warm, homelike yet modern, Scandinavian-style decor was chosen.

With a surface area of upwards of 720m², the medical centre offers ten consultation spaces, large waiting rooms and a reception hall. A pick-up and drop-off area for medical samples is provided too, as are an RX installation and the required facilities for the staff.
